In June 2008 the kick-off-meeting for the Organisation Committee (OC) GSSE 2011 took place. Many of the members of the new OC have fond memories of the LieGames 1999, the last time Liechtenstein hosted the GSSE. Leo Kranz, president of the LOSV, said, that many of the participants of those games are until today talking of the very well organized games; but even more they were impressed of the enthusiasm brought by the people of Liechtenstein to the games. And looking forward to 2011 he said: “We don’t want any gigantism, but games that correspond to our means and possibilities. And we know, that it won’t be guaranteed to organize again such successful games – but on the other hand we trust that we will succeed in doing so. Therefore it’s allowed to have the necessary self-confidence.” Some facts are very helpful to achieve this goal: More than 50% of the OC-members have already been members of the OC-Team 1999, the whole OC has officially been set up three years before the games and the politics and the people of Liechtenstein are supporting the project. This could already been noticed in the parliament’s debate in November 2007, all of the members agreed to the financial credit.

After this introduction by Leo Kranz, the participants got to know each other in the frame of a small humorous team-project. Finally first info material was distributed and a small gift handed over as a thank you for the commitment for the coming LieGames 2011. While they had an aperitif to conclude the meeting, the members of the OC talked about both, the games 1999 and the ones which will come: the LieGames 2011.
